Virginia Tech students help recent graduate confined to a wheelchair hike a local trail

I loved every second of my time at Virginia Tech. There was just a certain energy that I felt the first time I set foot on campus that made me feel welcome. Moments like these occur everyday at this school. When I stayed in Blacksburg, VA over the summer and when I’ve gone to visit Matt, I have seen this kid a couple of times. He always always has a smile on his face and from the looks of it, he surrounds himself with pretty great people too.

Of the times I’ve seen him on campus, he is always surrounded by what seems like his best friends and they’re always laughing. If I were ever in this situation, I would hope that my friends would do this for me and if I had a friend in this situation, you could bet your ass I wouldn’t let them miss out on any adventure big or small.

I can’t articulate the happiness I feel when I look at these pictures. It seems like they were all having such a good time.

I love my alma mater and I love these Hokies!!

LET’S GO HOKIES!

Graduation Day. I cannot believe it is here. I love Virginia Tech and feel so so SO thankful and blessed I have had the amazing opportunity to go here. I have been truly changed by this special place in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is a part of me, part of the DNA that makes me who I am. Forever a Hokie.

As a soon to be college grad I can tell you one thing that has been haunting my dreams since August, change. The unknown has always had a profound grip on my nerves. I don’t like it but as I have gotten older, I have tried to accept it to the best of my ability.

It’s interesting how four years ago I planned a little life out for myself about how things would go and where I would be in four years. Standing at the end of my college career four years later, it is very different from where I thought I’d be. Some of my plans didn’t work out, some I am still trying to attain, and others (the glorious few) have far exceeded my expectations of what I thought I could accomplish.

As of now, I am not sure what the future holds, I still have my big goals of what I need to do and where I would like to be. It’s just going to be hard to leave Virginia Tech and the comfort of going to classes, sorority meetings, and being surrounded by mountains and Hokie stone. It’s hard to settle with the fact that this time next year I will not be sitting in the Biology Building stressing over classes. It’s even harder to settle with the fact that I have no idea what I will be doing this time next year.

But even though I have these feelings I have to look forward to the future, I have to look change in the eye and say “okay what’s coming next.” Because we can’t just sit around and lament on the past, we can’t become trapped in wishing we could go back in time and do it all over again. We have to look for the future and see what’s in store for us there, because that is where we all are headed, ready or not.

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a lovely Thursday!

Here’s my list for the week:

  • I am thankful that I got to have a lovely last Formal with my sisters and my date last weekend. It was so much fun and I am really going to miss being a Kappa at Virginia Tech immensely when I leave.
  • I am thankful for the Virginia Tech community and the Hokie Nation. The April 16th ceremony was beautiful and such a wonderful way to remember our fallen Hokies, all of which were amazing people.
  • I am thankful for being able to go to school. As I get ready to graduate, I realize how fortunate I was to be able to attend this university.
  • I am thankful for nutella. Delish.

That’s what’s on my list today, what are you thankful for?

This is amazing. I am so thankful to be a Hokie, such an amazing community I have been blessed to belong to for four years. So much love. Live for 32.

So much love for 32
