Here’s some more about our challenge winner Diane (http://dancewithmylife.tumblr.com/)

Here’s a little about Diane:

  • I’m 17 and I love writing and dancing. I’m a great cook haha my mom taught me all her Russian recipes. I take pride in my culture and I try my best to make people smile or laugh whatever the occasion.

What is her biggest inspiration:

  • My biggest inspiration would have to be to strive in life and make a living for myself and for me to be happy with where I’m at.
How does Diane show gratitude:
  • I show my gratitude to others sometimes by gifts or sweet long letters handwritten like to my locker partner or random text messages to my friend to let them know that I love them.

I am thankful for my 3 amazing children, my wonderful sisters, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. I am thankful for my job, that I love, and for my incredible co-workers. I am thankful for the years I had 2 loving parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles (is anyone else seeing a theme here?!?). I am thankful that I have sweet animals to come home to and that, at the young age of 58, I can still be as physically active as I want (including running a half marathon with my then 22 year old son), and have friends of all ages that I have fun with. I am thankful to have a house to live in, enough to eat, and clothes to wear. Not everyone is as fortunate. I am happy to be alive and to be able to live life to the fullest (and to have survived 12/21/12!)

As I have gotten older I have found that I am most thankful for my memories.  I am really appreicative of all the things that I have gotten to do in my life and for all of the people that I have met.  I think that I am especially blessed to have had the many experiences that I have had, and sometimes when I miss something keeping the memory of that person or trip close can bring it back the moment back for just a second.

I am looking forward to giving up artificial sweeteners for the new year, I have already started with success!

I love this video, these little kids fight so hard everyday to survive. I am so thankful for all the work that St.Jude does to help keep them as healthy as possible and able to fight cancer longer. Please consider during this holiday season donating money, time, or food to those that desperately need it. The holidays are a great time to do something wonderful for someone else.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast,
a house into a home,
a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past,
brings peace for today
and creates a vision for tomorrow.
Melody Beattie

Happy Thankful Thursday! I hope everyone’s week isn’t too crazy!

Here’s my list for this week:

  • I am thankful for my health. It’s so easy to take for granted our health when we are well and strong, but it really is such a blessing. I feel very thankful to be healthy.
  • I am thankful that I will see Ali graduate from College next week. I am so excited for her and I know she will do amazing things in the future.
  • I am thankful for semi nightly walks with my Dad and my dog Belle, it’s just a nice way to unwind and shoot the breeze.
  • I am thankful for my little Italian grandmother who worries about there being enough cookies for Christmas. She is the best and so funny.
  • I am thankful for Mahjong Mondays. They are very fun times with people that have become a very great part of my life!

That’s what’s on my list this week, what’s on your list? What are you thankful for?

Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity: it must be produced and discharged and used up in order to exist at all.

William Faulkner

Two kinds of gratitude: The sudden kind we feel for what we take; the larger kind we feel for what we give.
